The Artist Within

Indoor garden plants waiting for spring transplantNew creations

Some of us want to create, create, create. Most of us want to be “known,” for whatever it is that drives us internally in our particular art. There are few of us who would prefer to be an unseen but unique- undiscovered flower in the woods- off the beaten path- unknown and Ok with it… maybe. I don’t know what I want, but I still like to create without timeframes or borders. A blog here and there, a few pictures of a walk in the woods or a wilderness adventure. I am not very driven to be known by more than a few.

My flower in the wood’s moments would be my music. I write songs or remake familiar tunes. My sacred moments happen on the piano or keyboard. Maybe down the road I will share some video of this last piece, but the words for me are shareable. They are my expression as a follower of Jesus. You might relate.

Anytime Anywhere

Anytime, anywhere, seek my savior, He is there. Bow my heart and know He is near.

Know HIs love and seek HIs face. Find HIs joy and let HIs peace

flood your soul, shine His presence

I want your heart, to beat in my soul, seeds of your love-grow, in your control.

Pour out my will. Wash me until, you fill with your peace, untainted and still.

Anytime. Anywhere. Your My God…who is there. Nothing can stop your Love.

Anytime. Anywhere. When My world is in despair, My Jesus, I rest in your care.

My Jesus, I rest in your care.

    1. Ya, like 30 degrees cool right now without heater on. Actually, outside on the deck of the cabin would give it an “Ozark” feel, but it’s not all country or folk singer type music…one musical part would fit Elton john or Billy Joel.

  1. I love your lyrics, Gary. I can imagine a melody for them in my mind. However, I’m sure the one you picked is better. 🤗

I’m an extrovert who thrives on stage, but tends to stick his foot in his mouth. This is why I often hit the brakes and ask myself who I’m doing this for?
Being out in nature helps me to remember how small and powerless I really am. The spot light is fine, but only when the Lord invites you.

  2. Thanks David. It would be interresting to get a good set of lyrics and put them in front of 20 different song writers. Most likely there would be 20 different tunes and chord structures made. God created us extremely unique no matter how much we might look alike to the general population. I love that thought.
A good interactive music podcast could be in the making for a lyric writer…
So true on the spotlight…I’ve been there in younger years….didn’t want it

    😌
Gary, I love the lyrics, the Artist within you, and I do love also hearing you sing as you play. 🎵❤️ Beautiful photos too. My plants awaiting their transplant don’t look like that…but there’s a new leaf on my sleeping bulb! (I forget what you call it.)😅

    1. Thanks so much Deb. I thought of waiting to record on the lyrics but wanted the thought to stand or fail to connect. (Fixed it by the way…put 2 comments into 1). There is little outlet for me on music with our daughters caregiver load the last few years. The blog and thought really fits me. Everyone is so different in choosing which spotlight (or dark corner) we choose in our creations.

I’m a bit early on growing plants. They came up way too aggressive and what does one do with aggressive squash and watermelon in March when we can’t plant till mid may?

  4. Beautiful lyrics! I love the plants that grow in the woods. One of my fondest childhood memories was when I was very little, and my mom and grandmother brought me with them to look at the Jack in the Pulpits.

The woods were so quiet and beautiful. Searching for these special plants was so much fun!

    1. Thanks Linda. Yes, those plants in the woods are rarely seen by humans, especially off the beaten trails. God enjoys his creation with or without our input. It’s fun to find them for sure.

  5. Creativity whatever form it takes does not operate on a schedule. It leaves us for days or weeks or longer, then calls in the middle of the night. I think of the voice of God calling to the young Samuel.

While I do not hear His voice audibly (and would likely expire if I did), God does often speak to me through nature. I see His goodness, His love and care for us. I am awed by His power, and the amazing way He has interwoven all creation to reflect our connectedness to one another. I see evidence everywhere of the eternal life Christ purchased for us, especially in Spring.
