What comes to mind when I say just one word and then you get a glimpse of what I watched for a couple hours.
“Someday“
My response: Someday…It’s autumn stage in my life, so…Yes, it matters how I live. It matters that I know my creator. “Someday” is coming kind of fast.
Gary
A lovely “end.”

It is Carole. Peaceful and quiet, but 100% an end.

Gary, your post is excellent, and spot on! “Someday” will also include perfect weather with a tree of life whose leaves never turn… (Revelation 22:2b “On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” )
Now, confession! When I first read the tag line and then watched the video, all I could think of with the falling leaves was my hair line!!

Love it Jeff. The hairline is too funny but also too close to home.
It’s hard to imagine the tree of life with the picture given…too wonderful for our limited words I’m thinking. A great way to kick off the comments conversation.

There’s a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar;
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

Good one GW. I break into song as well. That was one of my grandfathers favorite hymns

I find it strange that a bunch of leaves falling (they all do sometime) can be mesmerizing and beautiful. So many mundane things things of life are. A beholders beauty….quite a gift to be moved by a leaf.

One time in prayer I was feeling the oldness creeping on me and I pleaded with the Lord that my life would shine as the noon day sun… (as I often feel more like a tiny candle than a light) and the impression He put upon my heart that though the sun at sunset in not as bright… there was a beauty in it that the noon day sun could never touch.
May it be so with us…

So very true Brian. What a great and comforting revelation.
I remember hollowing out a place in the side of my quinzhee and putting a small candle in the snow. An igloo that slept 7 was totally lit up by every snowflakes reflection it seemed. From the outside the whole thing glowed like a giant glow bug in the dark. One must not underestimate even the smallest light.

I feel a sense of urgency to count my days thus making my days count.

A deep meaning of “My Utmost for HIs Highest” Manette. Sometimes I don’t honestly know what to do with that feeling. Maybe if we can take time to be in awe, our lives will have that aroma. Sort of like knowing who was sitting next to the camp fire hours later.

I disappoint myself too often by either distractions or feeling overwhelmed. I think you nailed it with being in “awe”.

In the end is a beginning. Until then, we keep the glow alive.

So true Robert. My parents both looked forward to that beginning. Finishing well should be leaned into, somehow, by God’s grace.

Gary, this is so true.
Regardless of how many people truly understand this.
As you know, my dad just passed a few days ago, and I am only beginning to understand how important it was that he knew GOD.
Not only for him, so that he was able to go to heaven and spend eternity with GOD.
I am also only beginning to grasp the importance of one soul saved for the family, for the circle of friends, even for the community where this soul lives / lived – and for GOD!!!
GOD is teaching me and showing me how pleased HE is and how HE appreciates my part in having helped my dad to know HIS CREATOR before he left.
Many people don’t understand at all – in the family, at the funeral ceremonies – but some do.
And you know!
Even more than before do I believe that GOD is real and knowing HIM is the most important aspect of life – of life on this side and on the other side of the rainbow….
Beautiful view!
GOD bless you.

You have spoken of so much truth there Eva. I am very glad to know that “someday” I will get to meet your Father. Because every aspect of our lives is temporary except our relationships in the spiritual arena, We are very blind to eternal realities until made to see. Then, when we see, no one believes what we see or say. Here’s to ears to hear and mud on our eyes (John 9: 1-12)

I love the hymn that was mentioned above! The video is beautiful! I thought of the song by the Beatles, “Blackbird’. It is not a religious song, but it is a song of hope. With Christ, there is light in the darkness. With Christ we go forward each day with hope.

Good thoughts Linda. And, Hope will not disappoint when Christ is the object of, and the backdrop of our hope. I love the ingredients others are brining into this conversation.

Although I’ve seen the leaves fall, I never paid much attention to the sound. Hearing them fall was almost like the sound of our lives dropping to the ground. Someday soon the only thing that will matter is our faith in Jesus. Thanks for sharing this video!!

As I watched the leaves fall, I was thinking that as well Stephanie. I see so many things in nature that are so remarkable. Every animal, plant, season and every event has something in common as there is a beginning and an end in nature.
I really hope my life and finishing well will help those around me to see that Jesus is alive in me while here. a kind of faith that is not explainable any other way.

I too can stand mesmerized at the kitchen window–just watching the leaves fall. I’m particularly fond of the small golden ones that reflect the sunlight as they tumble and twirl. I suppose they offer a life-lesson for “the end”: reflect the Son, and keep dancing till he comes for us!

Especially when the son is just right and there is slight puffs of breeze, those yellow golden leaves do dance. The big red oak leaves sometimes float, almost gravity defying and the maples have a distinct lilt all the topsy turvy way down.
When the Son comes for us I don’t think we will be taken up like a vacuum cleaner does it…It will all be a dance down and then up???Imagination here but yes, meanwhile all a dance. I want to finish well with a bow.

You’re right, it’s fun to watch the big leaves too, floating from side to side on their descent. I always pictured our ascent to heaven as a slow drifting upward. But you’ve got me thinking, Gary, maybe the euphoria of the moment WILL cause us to dance our way to the gates!
