Spring is coming to our neck of the woods. There are the usual signs. A powerful thought that kept popping into my head today as I took a few pictures. I purposefully wanted to see “what life grows out of an old dead stump?” And, Yes I found life. See for yourself! Keep this thought in mind as you look at these pictures.
Never underestimate the power of a seed
The last two pictures were from a wilderness trip. The rest were taken in the woods out back today. Where a seed lands, given any chance at all, it will take root and grow. If you and I are any kind of Follower of Jesus at all, we should look to sow seeds of the Good News of Jesus Christ in lives around us. Thank God the power is not in the sowing. The power of the Gospel is the Word of God. The same Word that spoke and there was light. the same Word that is sown as a seed possibly in the hardest (like a rock) life. So I’ll say it again…
Never underestimate the power of a seed!
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men .John 1:3

This is very encouraging!

Thanks Carol. It was energizing for me as I took pictures.

I was meditating the other day of the many ways “seeds” is used in the bible. The tiniest seed planted in a soul can grow so as to transport that soul into eternal life by God’s breath.

So True G.W. and look at what Faith the size of a mustard seed does. It’s humbling to know we have been entrusted with “seeds”

A powerful visual Gary. After finishing your post I went back to look at the pictures again and chew on what you wrote, I found myself thinking of Isaiah 55:11 “So is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” On another note, your hepatica are beautiful! It’s the herald that announces the other spring wildflowers are on their way.

Thanks Beth. Isaiah 55:11 would have been a perfect verse as well.
I actually did not know the name of the wildflower. “hepatica” thanks.
I only saw that one little patch of four flowers in all the 80 acres of woods that I covered.
Very little green. I kept an eye our for moral mushrooms but it’s too early there as well.

Springtime is such a lovely time of year. New life sprouting everywhere. Great message Gary and loved the complimentary scripture that you added. 🌱

Thanks Susan. I guess I needed the reminder of God’s power in a seed being small yet does not diminish any of his power.

Powerful powerful powerful message. Complimented by the outstanding photography.
On a side note, my vegetable garden was totally destroyed by the scourge of Whitefly. I gave up my “gardener wanna be” aspirations and never went out the veggie garden again, that was a couple of months ago, we are now almost at the end of autumn. Most of the vegetable plants are coming back, out of nowhere it seemed. But your post gave me the answer “ Never underestimate the power of a seed”
Well done Gary !

Thanks Crissy
I have similar garden experiences. Our part is patience as well as the gardener. I saw many lessons through the camera lens but that seed lesson I wont forget.

I am humbled at such kind words Crissy. Thank you. The Lord has allowed many hard things in life with our family. He is faithful and we have mostly been faithful. Maybe what counts the most is how many times we say “yes” to God in our walk.

Hi Gary, it’s funny how we can focus on things that we think are important but often, more times than not actually, the things that are vitally important can be the little things that we take for granted or hardly ever think about. A word of kindness, a helping hand, an encouragement spoken out of compassion, planting a seed of hope or the realization that God does exist and that He does care and that Jesus is indeed the light of God, are all seeds and like you say, they can fall on the hardest rock or that which seems more than dead, and yet they can and often do, bring forth new life, which in importance, surpasses many of those elements of things we think as important. Galatians 6:19 comes to mind: “So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.” Thank you for the reminder, blessings brother.

So very true Bruce. We think our seeds need to be big when we know God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. Gal6:19 is a great verse for this.

All that you wrote in this comment, Bruce, is ever so true. You and Gary both have planted some excellent seeds of Truth and encouragement in the garden of my heart. 🌱❤

Well I think Gary is the pro at that, but it’s nice to get that positive feedback. Thank you for taking the time to let us know. Blessings!

Amen, Gary. The seed of the gospel comes with batteries included. Our job is to plant. God makes things grow.

I like your comment above Gary…’we think our seeds need to be big’. We tend to think we need to be doing ‘big things’ all the time. In reality, God can use even the tiniest seeds…simple kind gestures that can change someone’s day. All the little seeds of love and kindness create a world of difference. Love the photos! Love the message!

Thanks Linda. I’m not sure why it’s tempting to be of the character “Go big or go home”
It has to be a pride thing. The beauty of smiling at someone (or some little thing) is it forms character and connection in both of us while we go about our everyday business.

Yes! The little things mean so very much! In the end, the ‘little things’ add up to really big things!

Thank you for this encouragement, Gary. I am a terrible evangelist, always clumsy and ill-timed. But God does the work.
